Our Culture
Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play, children learn how to learn.
Culture is the name for what people are interested in, their thoughts, their models, the books they read and the speeches they hear
Coding class
All our children deserve a chance to become creators instead of consumers of computer science. The programmers of tomorrow are the wizards we're breeding for the future. You're going to look like you have magic powers compared to everybody else. Learning to code is learning to create and innovate
All of today’s kids will need—along with reading, writing, and arithmetic—a basic understanding of computation and the role that it plays across a wide range of disciplines. Coding is engaging and empowering. It’s a necessary 21st Century skill. We are well equipped, breeding the best is our pride

About Us
St. Gloria's School was founded 1988 based on Christian values. Continuous improvement and expansion have brought us to where we are today. We continue from time to time to add new innovations. The school is designed for children between the ages of 2 years and 11 years.
In the Nursery classes, two teachers are assigned to a class of between 10 and 15 children. This also applies in the junior primary. In the senior primary, apart from the class teachers, there are float teachers who other than helping to mark, teach special subjects, and hold forth when class teachers are absent. We are very serious about discipline because a disciplined child is a total child.
The school is managed by a Board of Trustees

Curriculum
A successful curriculum is built on inspirational learning activities, high-quality teaching and a classroom environment that allows children to learn in a way that motivates and interests them
We adapt to programmes approved by the Federal and State Governments. We also inject some foreign curriculum into our own curriculum. Subjects taught at the Nursery stage are Numbers, Letter Work, Creative Art, Nature Talk, Spelling, Handwriting, News Conversation, Phonics, Scripture, French, Physical and Health Education, Music, Creative writing etc. Subjects taught at the Primary level are: Science, Numeracy, Literacy, Moral Instructions ......
Numeracy

-
Singing of rhymes
-
Playtime
-
Game time
-
Story time and
-
Scribble time
For some children Nursery is often their first opportunity to venture alone into the wider world outside the family home. Therefore these first interactions and experiences must be of the highest quality as they can form lasting foundations on which the children use to build upon later in life
Discipline In School
What is discipline?
According to Google, discipline is defined as the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behaviour, using punishment to correct disobedience. As teachers, you must always be on top of your game.
In a school I visited recently the atmosphere was tensed and I was asking a question within me: Is this a school or a military Camp? Students were neither permitted to express their opinions nor advise their teachers.
Let us strike a balance between discipline and dictatorship. Correct your pupils/students in love. As you give punishment for disobedience don't forget to award applause or gifts for good performance or behaviour. Don't forget to apologise when you fail in your duty or obligation to them.
Teachers make mistakes too.
Be a role model and a good mentor to them. Both teachers and students are in the teaching/ learning team, teacher being the team leader who must not fail in leading in the right direction.
There is a difference between being a disciplinarian and a dictator.
You can not be a dictator and expect ideas from your team.
The more you scare them, the more they will keep praising you, even when you are wrong.
Yes, there should be discipline in our school but don't become a field marshal. St Gloria's School has come a long way, we must continue to make the school a pace setter.
So, teachers remember you are professionals.
KENNY POPOOLA

Out of uniform
The OUT OF UNIFORM DAY which takes place on the last Thursday of every month was introduced into the school’s calendar to allow flexibility and relaxation in the learning process. It is one day set aside to allow the pupils come to school in mufti. The pupils look forward to each Out Of UniForm Day with enthusiastic frenzy, simply because it enables them show off their cute dresses and above all the sense of freedom it creates. It has become very popular as the pupils anticipate its arrival with bated breath each last Thursday of every month of the school year. From desk of the Supervisor. ……….

Social distancing
Social distancing - the requirement to keep a distance from others to limit the spread of the virus, especially for younger age groups.
Children, young people and staff should be spaced apart at all times. This means sitting children at desks that are far apart and ensuring everyone queues and eats further apart than normal. In the playground and when doing physical exercise, children should be kept apart. Visits to the toilet should be taken one at a time and break times should be staggered. Guidelines should be put out in corridors and unnecessary staff gatherings should be avoided.

Parent roles
The school recognises that parents have a vital role to play in supporting and encouraging good attendance and punctuality. By accepting responsibility in partnership with the school, we can work together to ensure the children’s right to a full education, as well as enabling parents to fulfil their legal responsibility.
